International Brain Compatible Education

Welcome

What is brain compatible education? The one sure thing about the future is that it will be different. Today's preschoolers will be retiring in the 2070s after probably several full careers, some of which will be in professions that we have no concept of now. We owe it to them to prepare and encourage them to explore all possibilities available and to allow them to discover their true talents and passions. Education is no longer a 'one size fits all' industry. Brain compatible education is essential for all students to realise their potentials.

In the past two decades there has been an amazing growth in our knowledge of how our brains operate and how we learn.  We have seen the discovery of some mind blowing things about our brain and today's kids are amazed as they find out more about, and the limits and possibilities of, their own brains.

What is Brain Compatible Education? What is Brain Based Learning? Simple these are theories of learning based on the brain's structure and function. We know learning will occur best if teaching and learning strategies are brain compatible and the learners' brains are physically and biochemically prepared.

In his workshops Derek Pugh helps participants to learn how to prepare their brains for learning. He uncovers some of the mysteries about our brains and how they are organised and work using brain compatible teaching and learning strategies. Students learn about their memory, how learning occurs, how to care for their brains and why they feel emotions and behave as they do. They also learn the language of learning and new ways to nurture their brain's growth during its most sensitive periods. Students learn a model of brain care based on SEWBaD - Sleep, Exercise, Water, Breakfast and Diet.
